Día 91 | Martes, el 31 de Marzo | 2009

Goooooooooool!!!...

What a day.  My classes today -- Gramática Advanzada y Literatura Andina (Advanced Grammar and Andean Literature) will both be really challenging.  After classes, our group had a ceramics workshop in which we met this hilarious and playful Ecuadoran boy.

My teacher for Andean Literature is like some South American wizard.  He is quiet but his words are profound and powerful.

Lesson for the day:

Nadie es indespensable.
Todos somos útiles.

[No one is indespensable.
Everyone is useful]

The Andean Literature course is really giving me hope for the quarter.  We talked a good deal about Immanuel Kant, the Quechua/Kichwa nation, and then did some breathing exercises.

After class, my professor looked at me dead in the eye and said, "Is that a camera?"  he pointed to my bag that carries my digital camera.  I nodded, unsure of what he was going to say next.  He paused for a moment -- "Saca todos los fotos que necesitas" [take all of the photos that you need] is what he said to me next.  He walked down the stairs and then he was gone.
